The Baptist Union of Great Britain issued this warrning this afternoon:-

"We are aware of a phishing attack targeting Baptist Union churches and Associations. People are being contacted by email from fake addresses sent as if they are from someone they really know. For example one exchange began with:

Subject: Are you there?

Hello xxxx, do you have a moment? I have a request I need you to handle discreetly. I'll be busy in a prayer session for most of the day, no calls so just reply to my email.

On reply the person then asked them to buy gift cards from Amazon and send them the codes so they can be given as presents to people they know. People are being caught out so please do be on your guard and check your emails carefully. If in any sort of doubt, don't reply and contact the person you think is trying to get in touch by another way."
