13/10/12 Congregation members Phil Emsden and Annette Gallagher were married in a service conducted by Rev Keith Neville with Keith Parr also contributing. Phil who got his wedding in just ahead of his sixtieth birthday, has been coming to the church for nearly 50 years. Annette has settled in to the church community since knowing Phil. Congratulations to them both - we look forward to seeing them continuing to grow together and with God in their marriage. |

The church was open for the day to allow anyone who was interested to view the chapel with guided tours available by former Minister Rev Alan Betteridge and long serving Deacons Judith Brazier and David Depledge. The Baptistry was filled with water and open and was something most visitors had not seen before.

1/9/12 Pink Tea Party - Tuesday 30th October, 3 - 6pm, Queen's Road Baptist Church
![]() |
Joy Knott writes "As you may know, I held a Pink Tea Party at church last October to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. It was a great success and raised over £2,000. At the time I thought I might not be fit enough to organise another one...but one year and a Moonwalk later, I am still here and raring to go! I have had tremendous support from my friends at Queen's Road over the last year, so I am asking you to rally round again! My Pink Tea Party will take place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month on the afternoon of Tuesday 30th October in the church cafe and vestibule area. For a reasonable entrance fee, there will be tea, coffee and many cakes on offer. There will also be a Pink Elephant Stall, where you can start your Christmas shopping and buy small items for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. Due to popular demand, this year there will also be a Blue Banana Stall...as not everyone wants all things pink! A Pink Quiz and Pink Raffle will complete the event. |
Last year many people came and we had a lovely afternoon! Others baked cakes for me and leant me their cake stands. Similar offers would be much appreciated this year! See me at church or email the church office
if you are able to help. Look out for reminders in the weekly news sheet nearer the time.
Many thanks for your ongoing support."

26/3/2012 The alumni of Saker Baptist College, Cameroon, shook the rafters of the church with their praise at their UK Golden Jubilee Service on Saturday. Minister, Rev Keith Neville, says " Saker Baptist College was one of the first Secondary Schools for girls in the Cameroon, and as the alumni celebrated God was at the heart of the celebrations. Founded by Baptist Missionaries for the USA the former students couldn’t be more excited to be together if they tried. Their hymn singing was jubilant, even the way they processed in and out of the chapel would leave most of us gasping for air. Their love of God instilled into them at the college radiated from them. This was party that God was praised at and God delighted to attend." |

18/2/2012 The first night of the Church Pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, was a great triumph for the performers, the backstage team and Director, Gaynor Larkin. A packed hall saw one deacon repeatedly appear in a puff of smoke while another played a totally convincing blow up electric guitar. The church's Counselling Team are gearing up to help with those "assaulted" by the Ugly Sisters and an investigation will begin into where they learnt to act like that.
|
As you would expect, the children were brilliant - singing and dancing to a very high standard. The principal characters carried off their roles with aplomb, the Wicked Witch was very convincing and the technical team did everything that could be expected of them. In all, the audience had a great night, being well entertained from start to finish. |

| 14/1/2012 The first wedding of 2012 saw Claire Barber marry Philip Woolaston in front of a large congregation of family and friends. The term "Happy Couple" is a cliche but Claire and Phil really did look thrilled to be getting married. There was great music from the organist, the worship band and a string trio and as usual, the flower displays were beautiful. The service was conducted by the Minister, Rev Keith Neville. |

24/12/11 The week before Christmas has been fantastically busy at Foodbank at QRBC. In addition to serving a very large number of people with basic food parcels, we have also been distributing dozens of Christmas hampers to previous Foodbank users. Colin, Sue and Steve were part of the team sorting this out. The extra finance needed to provide this has come from the generosity of many people both within and outside the church. |
| 16/12/11 Coundon Court School have presented the Foodbank based at Queens Road with 15 Christmas Hampers to bless those in need. The party from the school are seen handing over the gift to Rev "Santa" Neville. |

The hottest day of the year seemed most appropriate to be transported to the warm climes of Italy as 47 people enjoyed the latest "Meet & Eat " tour. The volume of chatter emitting from the tables suggested a great time of fellowship was being enjoyed as well as an excellent 3 course Italian meal prepared by The Meeting Place Café Manager, Graham Edwards. Brain cells were exercised thanks to Judith Brazier (below) who provided a quiz about Italy. A big thank you to the volunteers who served, washed up, cleared away - all with a smile and ensured everything ran smoothly. Thanks too to Stella and Jim who kept The Meeting Place Café open. |
